Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are VoIP phones?

VoIP phones are telecommunication devices that work to carry your voice over your data network or through the internet.

  • How are VoIP phones different from regular phones?

While typical phones work over copper wiring and phone lines, VoIP phones work wirelessly or through ethernet cables using the internet. Additionally, the phone itself is more independent, running its own operating system, unlike a regular phone. The VoIP phone is closer to a mobile smartphone than to an old kitchen table phone.

  • How do we set it up?

All you have to do is build your system here. We'll come to your location to set it up for you.

  • Do we have to be a pro to use this system?

Nope. If you don't understand VoIP, that's okay because we're here to help you. If you ever have an issue, we can help you over the phone or we can come to your location because we are located nearby in Metro Detroit. Additionally, our Online Management Portal is easy to use, and, unlike other phone companies, you won't need to watch a video or get a degree to understand how to change system settings. We're by your side.

  • What do we do if the phone breaks?

If there is a hardware or software defect with the phone, we'll come on site and replace the phone free of charge.

  • Can we save our existing phone number?

Yep! We can carry your phone number over to the VoIP system so that you don't have to worry about acclimating customers to a new number. However, if you would like a new number, that's also possible.

  • Does VoIP require a special phone?

Yes; the phones can be seen here. Don't worry, though: you don't have to pay for the phones. Instead, we pay for the phones, while you just have to pay the flat rate fee, which can be calculated here.

  • Do we have to purchase the phone?

Nope! We pay for the phones. All that you pay is the flat rate for our service.

  • What happens if the network connection is down?

Our phones are all equipped with redundancy, so if your network goes down, your phone system will automatically forward calls to any number that you choose.

  • How long does the contract have to be for?

We offer 12, 24, or 36 month contracts. Take a look here for the contract length selections.

  • Where is VoiceLink's headquarters located?

VoiceLink is located in the Metro Detroit area, specifically near Dearborn.

  • How many extension lines can we have?

The number of lines depends on the phones that your office have. The standard phone has 3 lines, the receptionist phone has 4 lines, the cordless phone has 2 lines, and the conference phone has 6 lines. The total number of lines is additive; two conference phones will give your company a total of 12 lines, with 6 per phone, for example.
